It’s a chilly, overcast day in Denver but the crews have been busy at work in order to have the project ready for a post-tensioned elevated concrete deck to be poured prior to Thanksgiving. If they miss this window of opportunity there will be some major delays due to the next two Holidays coming up.
This week the crew has been busy pouring the parking slab and stripping forms from the columns. In the image above you can see columns near the southwest corner of the building and the parking slab. Nice to see the orange caps on the exposed rebar for safety!
Supports for the post-tensioned concrete deck are starting to be placed. If you look closely you can see the chalk line grid used to place each support. As the week progresses they’ll get all their form work in place. By the time they are ready to pour the elevated deck the concrete parking slab will have had enough time to cure.
Here is another shot showing the form work for the overhang of the elevated deck. This will make it so an exposed edge to the deck is left which creates a transition from the block below to the brick above.
